Super Mario 64

Super Mario 64 Box ArtRelease date: June 23, 1996.

Released on: Nintendo 64 and Wii's Virtual Console.

Super Mario 64 was launched together with the Nintendo 64 in June 1996, making it one of the very first for the console.  But being one of the first did not diminish the quality of the game at all, and Super Mario 64 is still considered as one of the best game for the N64. Also one of the biggest appeals of this game is Mario’s huge leap into the 3D world. Everything is now rendered in full 3D, from character models to the world’s environments, and along with this are some new concepts and ideas that make the game truly amazing.

All areas are rendered beautifully and are in full 3D which can be roamed freely without any restriction or time limit.

The objective is to move to different areas by collecting stars, but some stars are only available by solving certain puzzles or doing certain tasks. Also, Mario needs to defeat Bowser to obtain keys to unlock certain doors.

Throughout the game, you may be able to find cap power-ups which give Mario abilities like flying, walking underwater, invulnerability, and others.

Before, Mario was only able to run and jump all over the place, now Mario can walk, crawl, swim, climb, crouch, and even do special stunts like a back flip.

The game contains a lot of secrets -- most would be secret areas containing more stars.

A huge 3D castle to explore, a lot of obstacles to overcome, and a beautiful princess to save, Super Mario 64 has done an excellent job in bringing grand new adventure to Mario.
